Aravind Eye Care System

About Aravind Eye Care System
Aravind eye care system is based in Madurai and is the largest hospital in the world in terms of catering to the number of OPD patients.
They serve close to 4000 patients. Spread across multiple locations in different parts of the state of Tamil Nadu, Aravind eye hospital is synonymous with eye care for it had impacted millions of patients by delivering quality care at a very affordable cost.
Doctors across the world visit here to understand the hospital’s process efficiency and to get trained under the best eye surgeons.
For this reason, the hospital records surgeries across all the operation theatres.
Problem
The hospital deploys an exclusive editing team to edit and post content, and also to stream surgeries from OT they have to always rely on vendors to carry out the task.
Moreover, the surgery videos generated across the multiple OTs are dispersed across locations and are exposed to anyone who has access to it, making them vulnerable to data the, and piracy, and may even lose valuable information.
It also makes it difficult to retrieve the relevant data whenever needed.
The creation of engaging user content is tedious and may always have to seek external support or additional resources exclusively for it.
This limits the time and bandwidth of an employee and adds up additional recurring costs.
Solution
We introduced a cloud-based solution where the system allows for seamless recording and creating LIVE broadcasts. This cloud-based system can also be integrated with Microsoft TEAMS or ZOOM for recording management.
It helps to cut out the reliance on external pairs to set up broadcasting solutions.
The user can also Index the folders depending on the location from where the file originates. The file names can be saved with as many relevant keywords as possible. It will help them for easy retrieval of unique surgical videos whenever required.
The system also has a provision to have absolute control over access to the file. So only those with permission will be able to view, edit, share, modify, publish, or unpublish the file.

Nethradama Super Specialty Eye Hospital

About Nethradama Super specialty Eye Hospital
Nethradhama Super Specialty Eye Hospital is a world-class facility focused primarily on quality eye care with cutting-edge technology and highly skilled doctors.
With 7 centers across Karnataka, this hospital serves the citizens of Karnataka with quality care at an affordable cost.
Problem
The hospital has installed high end recording solutions in most of their operation theatres. These systems demand close attention by technicians whenever they wanted to every time a request to broadcast or stream videos.
Apart from chocking of the bandwidth of their resource, there is always a challenge in interfacing their solution to external applications.
Solution
We proposed a simple and powerful plug-and-play recorder. This recorder is simple to use and can be handled by anyone in the OT room. It comes along with an IR remote control to start and stop recordings. The recorder also comes with a provision to connect a hard disk drive to extract all the recordings.
The hospital has equipped more than 10 Ots with this recorder keeping the recording solution lean and more importantly at a fraction of the cost.
Sharing below the USPs of the recorder proposed to Nethradhama Eye hospital:
One-Click Recording: With a single click, surgeons or operating room personnel can initiate the recording process, ensuring that critical moments are never missed.
High-Definition on Video Capture: The solution supports high-definition video recording, ensuring clear and detailed visuals of surgical procedures.
Audio Capture: Simple Recorder features integrated audio recording, capturing conversations and discussions during the surgery, offering a comprehensive overview of the procedure.
It’s a simple recorder and it boasts a clean and intuitive interface, requiring minimal training for medical staff to start recording surgeries effectively.

Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital
Problem
These were some of the challenges faced by trainee doctors,
- Surgeries were performed inside the operation theatre, which was not accessible for all medical students owing to safety precautions
- Only ones inside the OT was able to have a closer look at the process while others were layout
- The OT rooms were big enough to accommodate only the patient, surgeons and assisting staff and were not large enough to accommodate many trainees
- There was also a major risk of spreading infections and diseases due to conges on inside the room
These challenges were predominant in the closed environment of the OT and budding doctors were deprived of the chance of the real experience inside an operation theatre.
Solution
To overcome such difficulties, we incorporated our end-to-end solution called VOTIS (Virtual Operation Theatre Recording & Broadcasting System), which is the heart of Tele Surgery.
VOTIS is an integrated (hardware and software) system that records surgical procedures inside an OT and broadcasts it to connected devices like TVs, projectors, etc.
VOTIS amalgamates the surgery camera recording, patients’ data, and surgeon audio and telecast it to any devices. It was able to record high- resolution surgery videos and live-stream these videos directly to the trainees, for them to watch and learn.
